Description
Gillian Jason Gallery, which exclusively shows art by women, has teamed with curator and Instagram presence Mollie E. Barnes (@she_curates_) to present Heart of the Matter, a group exhibition launched on International Women’s Day in the gallery’s 3D Virtual Viewing Room. Join us to hear Barnes speak with artist Emma Prempeh about her work and about the exhibition.
Says gallery owner Elli Jason Foster, “The last twelve months have been tough for many people in the arts. If we are able to take a step towards correcting some of the gender inequalities that have existed for so long in the art-world then we can sincerely see great change within our reach.” Emma Prempeh is one of the outstanding emerging artist in this show.
In addition, Heart of the Matter features new and recent works from Tracey Emin, Bridget Riley, Chantal Joffe, Jasmine Pradissitto, Sikelela Owen, Layla Andrews, Eleanor Johnson, Sarah Jane Moon, Sahara Longe and Cecily Brown. Each artwork offers unique visions and explorations into the artist’s contemporary practice. With strongly figurative works, contrasted with expressionist and abstract pieces, Heart of the Matter presents a timeless look at contemporary female artists in and from Britain. After this tour, we will all be able to definitively answer the query, “Can you name #5womenartists”
Online booking closes 28 March 2021.
