Join Ferren Gipson over coffee and pastries for an intimate discussion based on her new book Women’s Work, which celebrates innovative modern and contemporary women artists like Louise Bourgeois, Lucie Rie, Elsa Schiaparelli, Sarah Lucas, Faith Ringgold and Hannah Hill and introduces us to others, all women working in textiles and ceramics who have boldly reclaimed the idea of ‘women’s work’.
Ferren is a British-American art historian, writer, and textile artist. Her words can be found across mediums, including her books The Ultimate Art Museum and Women’s Work; articles in the Financial Times and WeTransfer’s online magazine WePresent; and the visual arts podcast Art Matters. She is a strong advocate for broadening the audience for art historical content, and topics in her work include explorations of the intersections between art and popular culture, highlighting the work of marginalised artists, and researching political themes in modern Chinese art.
