Abstract painter and ceramicist Mary Heilmann reflects the energy and excitement of the 1960s and California life. She studied literature, poetry, ceramics and sculpture, and melds those influences into work for which the backstory is essential. We are fortunate to have Lydia Yee sharing those backstories with us.

Heilmann (b. 1940) takes colour, line and shape on unexpected journeys. Polka dots waft across eye-popping hues corralled within irregular rectangles. The poetry of her works lies in the tension between the rigours of geometry and the contingencies of the human and the organic.
Coffee will be available in the cafe from 9:30.  The tour will start promptly at 10 am.
Price: Patrons – Free; Friends – £10; Guests – £20.
RSVP to rsvp@UKFriendsofNMWA.org.  and post cheque to Box 539, 28 Old Brompton Road, London SW7 3SS.
