Day Trip to Freddie Robin's Studio/Barn and Feeringbury Manor
19 September 2013
Join us for a day out in Essex to visit the extraordinary Grade II listed, sixteenth-century, timber-framed barn that Freddie and her husband artist Ben Coode-Adams have converted into a live/work space, and the nearby gardens of Feeringbury Manor.
Robins is an internationally-known maker of textile objects that explore isssues of domesticity, gender and the human condition. She challenges the common perception of knitting as craft. Her work is internationally renowned; her practice crosses the boundaries of art, design and craft. The home-cum-studio created in the barn has become a work of art in itself, comprising Robins’ subversive woolen works, household objects that have been transformed with knitted interventions, and her and Coode-Adams’ own extravagant collection of everything from toys to taxidermy.
We will be treated to a light lunch at nearby Feeringbury Manor Gardens which will be a fascinating counterpoint to this eccentric family home!
Details on transport, timing, and cost to follow. For now, please RSVP interest as it is expected this visit will fill very quickly.
