UK Friends of the National Museum of Women in the Arts is delighted to offer you an evening of contemporary art and critical discourse at Christie’s King Street in connection with NMWA’s biennial Women to Watch exhibition.
Women to Watch is designed to increase the visibility of female artists who deserve greater international recognition and an opportunity to exhibit in a major museum in the United States. NMWA’s outreach committees collaborate with a leading local curator to select a short-list of artists along a given theme from which NMWA can select an artist to participate in the Women to Watch exhibition.
The designated theme for Women to Watch 2015 is flora and fauna, and in particular, how contemporary artists recast Romantic-era ideas about beauty, the sublime and nature’s intractable power, whilst reflecting current issues and the persistent unruliness of humanity. In this context, the subject Why Nature Now? will be tackled by the panelists.
