Lina Iris Viktor: Mythic Time / Tens of Thousands of Rememberings
Join us at Sir John Soane’s Museum for a tour by exhibition curator Louise Stewart of their collaborative exhibition between Liberian-British multimedia artist Lina Iris Viktor and the Museum, featuring paintings, works on paper, and a new group of sculptures.

Viktor’s work unearths connections across time and cultures, from ancient Egypt to medieval illumination and indigenous Australian art. In bringing together these connections, she mirrors Soane’s own eclectic approach to collecting objects from varied cultures and time periods. Viktor’s sculptural works, made especially for this exhibition, are interspersed throughout the Museum, introducing new presences and memories into Soane’s former home.

Susan Stockwell studio visit with the artist
We will then walk the short distance to Susan Stockwell’s studio whose work is currently featured in the exhibition Money Talks: Art Society and Power at the Ashmolean (until 5th January 2025).

Stockwell will share the inspirations behind her money-related artwork and how she approaches transforming used currency and other materials into compelling, subversive and thought-provoking artworks.

Stockwell is best known for her site-specific installations and dress sculptures that have been exhibited widely including at the likes of TATE Modern, The Royal Geographical Society and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Susan Stockwell has shown at the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art in Connecticut, Neuberger Museum in New York, Art League, Houston and Finesilver Gallery, San Antonio, Texas amongst others in the USA. She also taught at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, Madison Wisconsin and at Syracuse University, New York while living in the USA.
