Description
We are celebrating Women’s History Month with a Gallery Hop outing that offers a breadth of art and artists. Put on comfortable shoes and join us as we visit a stellar line-up of exhibitions.
We start at Alison Jacques for On the Surface of Things, a four-person exhibition exploring the communicative potential of raw materials and exposed surfaces. Then, on to Pilar Corrias, for artist Rachel Rose’s new sculptures, Loops, and paintings, Colores. In these works, pastoral landscapes serve as the basis for a number of painting techniques using pigments and metallic dusts. A short walk brings us to Frith Street Gallery, showing works by Dorothy Cross, short-listed for our Women to Watch programme in 2015.
We continue into Mayfair to Stephen Friedman Gallery for Hulda Guzman’s solo exhibition, Meet me in the Forest, paintings of lush foliage, peopled by children, animals and creatures unknown. Last, we visit David Zwirner, for the double blast of works by Hilma af Klimt, just sold to the Glenstone Museum, and Vessels, a group show in a range of media, engaging in different ways with “the idea that the living body is a vessel—one that contains a life force or a spirit, but one that is also subjected to social, political, and cultural constructs”.
Self-treat lunch to follow.
Cost: Patrons and one guest – free; Friends £20; Guests £30.
